GitHub: Links to Bookmark
It surprised me recently that a number of developers aren’t aware of a lot of the documenation and resources that are available just on the GitHub
site itself. If you are in software development there is no doubt you know what GitHub is. I’m willing to bet you have your own GitHub account and perhaps if we were to view your GitHub profile would see several repositories, bookmarks, and projects
that you follow, but are you aware of all of the resources that are available?
What you may not know or possibly have never explored are the resources available to you just a click away from most places on the GitHub site. Let me pause for a moment, for those who are completely new to GitHub
or have never heard of it start at GitHub About and then move on to the GitHub Features page to start to understand what exactly GitHub offers.
If you are a regular user of GitHub
, be sure that you bookmark the GitHub Docs page to refer to often, it can be a big help. GitHub Learning Lab is also a link to be sure to refer to often that is growing and offers many courses to learn something new on GitHub
. The Learning Lab seems to be still in some early stages but I think it’s going to see some growth in coming days. If you are a developer trying to extend your projects with GitHub capabilities then GitHub Developer and GitHub Marketplace are a must have in your list.
After a recent conversation, I started looking thru all the bookmarks I had that fall under GitHub
site. I wanted to take a moment and start a collection of this below for a quick reference for anyone else that may not be aware of some of these resources. As mentioned, you can see and get to most any of these right of of the GitHub
site itself, such as scroll to bottom of the pages for links in the footer. As a starting point though, start checking out the list below of some links I’ve made note of.
I’m curious, which of these were you not already aware of? Do you have any links you think I should add to this collection?
